The images in the MU Image Library
are trademarked and copyrighted by the Curators of the University
of Missouri and may not be used without its permission. MU
benefits from public recognition of these images, logos and
photographs, which establishes a visual presence with our local,
state, national and international audiences. This look becomes
identified with the quality of MU's programs, products and
services. Thus, it is important to retain our reputation and
ensure the proper use of our marks through our copyright
policy.
To gain permission,
select the category of use in which you plan on participating:
Any use of
MU's marks in a professional, organizational, non-personal
and/or commercial manner is prohibited without express written
consent from the University. Related licensing fees may be
added as part of your approved use.
Additional usage guidelines
will be provided after review and approval of your request
to use an MU image or mark. Visit our requests page
to complete this step.
Campus users, please
note: any
MU-endorsed and -affiliated school, college, department, division,
center, unit or organization may use these images on an official Web
site without payment of a royalty or registration of use. Official
Web pages are those that serve as the primary, formal Web presence
for an entity; those used for academic and business purposes;
and those used to enhance, elaborate or support the mission
and strategic goals of the institution.
If you are unsure if your Web site
is characterized as official, contact Web Communications
at 573-884-8075 or webeditor@missouri.edu for
clarification.
If
you are a faculty or staff member, student, alumnus or friend
of the University, you may download and use these images on
your own, personal Web site, subject to the terms and restrictions
listed below. All visitors are welcome
to use these items as background images (i.e., wallpaper)
on their computers for personal enjoyment and to show your
tiger pride. We do require that visitors using our images
for any other personal or commercial purposes
complete a request form.
Please note: any linking to or
downloading from files/images within this site shall constitute
acceptance of these terms and restrictions.
- Your right to use these images is non-exclusive. The University
may grant similar or other rights to other persons or entities.
- Your right to use these images is non-transferable. You
may not assign your right to use these images to anyone else.
- Your right with respect to these images is limited to use.
You will not acquire any ownership or other interest in these
images by using them, and you may not sell, distribute or
take other such action with respect to them.
- The University may revoke your permission to use these
images at any time and for any reason. Upon notice from the
University that your permission has been revoked, you must
stop all use of these images immediately.
- You must use these images exactly as they appear on this
page and may not modify or alter them in any way. You may
not create derivative works from any image.
- If an image or photograph depicts or relates to identifiable
persons or entities, you may not use it in a manner which
suggests their association with or endorsement of any product,
service, opinion or cause.
- Neither the University of Missouri-Columbia nor the University
of Missouri System will be responsible or liable to you for
any direct, incidental, consequential, indirect, or punitive
damages resulting from your access to or use of the images
and photographs within this site and those housed on official
MU sites.
- You may use these images only on web sites that relate
to the University or that designate your affiliation with
the University (for example, on a web resume). You may not
use these images on Web pages intended to disparage the University.
- You may not use these images for commercial purposes or
place them on a Web site engaged in commercial activity.
- MU marks may not be placed or located on a Web page in
a manner that indicates or gives any impression that the
page is an official, endorsed MU publication.
- The following verbiage also is trademarked by the University
of Missouri-Columbia and may not be used, in whole or in
part, in Web site domain names:
